Governor Sarah Palin's Acceptance Speech: Reactions!!!

First off just let me say that watching the RNC as a Black American I felt underrepresented. I could be wrong, but I only recall two Black faces in the audience (not including the performers). Listening to all the Republican speakers, I felt non-existent. It was as if Blacks in this country do not count. Republicans definitely do not feel the need to appeal to minority voters. It's a statistical fact that in the future White Americans will be considered a minority. Hispanic and minority populations and popularity are growing at an astronomical rate. Whether we like it or not, as a country we need to change and will HAVE to embrace, acknowledge and include minorities.
I haven't heard anyone in the media mention the subliminal messages sent in Hukabee's and Gulianies speeches, but I heard them. Things like implying we ought to be thankful for our freedom. We're lucky to have freedom? - sure to be 'politically correct' he tried to cover it up by saying freedom from war but we know what he meant and so did the applauding crowd - (so Black people I guess we're LUCKY not to be slaves anymore!)....not needing anyone to help pull them up in life (in other words no welfare or government programs to assist poor or working middle class families)....... and a cheering crowd for all the historical leaders as their photos flashed on the screen except Martin Luther king Jr. Watching this made me feel like we're still in the days of fighting for equal rights! It's really sad that no matter how far we've come, unfortunately, there's a group of White racist, conservative individuals who believe they are and forever will be superior to us. Everyone wants to tip toe around the subject of race being a factor in the presidential election, but it is definitely and issue whether we say it or not. And unfortunately there are White people who will never vote for a Black president no matter what he says or what he does and will defend any White person that runs against that Black person no matter what.
We see it happening now. Before she even took the stage, we found out that Governor Sarah Palin:
1. Is under federal indictment for Abuse of Power.
Now we all now if Senator Obama had any legal troubles, even as much as a traffic violation, the media and Republicans would blow the entire ordeal out of proportion and definitely would not sweep it under the rug as they are for Governor Palin.
2. Has a 17 year old daughter who's 5 months pregnant.
Now this is a sensitive issue. While I do believe and agree that teenage pregnancy is a personal, private family matter, unfortunately pregnancy becomes a public issue as your belly grows and I know that if Obama and his family had similar circumstances, it would not be made light of, or down played, excused or swept under the rug. And beyond that, she put her daughter and family out there. Even after the McCain camp stated that this was a private issue, she made the decision to bring the daughter's 'baby daddy' to the RNC and introduced him to the world.
Poor Levi. She's lucky I'm not his mom! I would encourage my son to be a responsible and loving father but there's no way I'd allow my 17 year old son to marry his pregnant teenage girlfriend for the sake of her mom's political career! There isn't enough money or political power to make me to that to my baby. And yes I am the proud mother of a son. He's only 8, but I can imagine how that boy's mother must feel.
3. Has only gone out of this country a minimal amount of times (is it once or twice?)
I've had a passport since that age of 22 (almost 10 years) and am well traveled. I would expect that the Vice President of the US would be well traveled and well versed in foreign affairs and issues. Wouldn't you?
4. As Governor she has only handled a max of 50 employees at and a yearly budget of 12 million.
While Obama's managed 3 times her budget in a month and thousands of employees! But according to them she's got more experience?
7. While she speaks on behalf of special needs children, it's a fact that she cut budgets for special needs by 62% since she's been in office.
Well she didn't have a child with special needs then, need I say more?
8. Her husband was convicted of DWI and he was part of a movement for Alaska to gain independence from the United States.
It's hard for working class Americans to obtain employment after DWI and other convictions. But I guess the the same rules don't apply when your wife was the Mayor of your town and now the Governor of your state or when your Dad is the President of the United States!
All of these issues have been 'excused' by the Republican Party and it's supporters. Do you think they would've done the same for one of us?
My answer is not no but Heck NO! Just starting at the bottom, it sounds to me like she only cares about issues once it effects her life. Now since she has a special needs child, she's supportive. She has health care for her family, so guess what? Lack of health care for Americans doesn't effect her or her wealthy counterparts. But it does effect 40 million Americans! I wonder what her stance would've been on abortion if her daughter decided to terminate her pregnancy? Well we would've never known, because that would've been yet another skeleton in her family closet. I don't like to judge or beat up on public figures. My heart really goes out to people in the public eye. I feel bad that they're not allowed to have private lives, but in this case the Governor put these things out there and character may not be a relevant issue to the music I listen to or what movies I watch, but I believe it's relevant when who comes to the next presidential duo of my country.
How dare she belittle Obama's service to the community. Are you kidding, here we have a Harvard Law graduate who refused top paying 6-figure positions to go back to the community and be of service to the people. Did I hear her call him ELITE? For real? Well sweetie, If you're for helping the American people that's where you need to be. In the community. With the people. The real average American everyday poor working and middle class communities. What good are you in office if you really can't relate to everyday problems, concerns, and needs of Americans? How can you promote change if you can't relate? Can McCain relate? When your wife is an heir to an Anheuser-Busch fortune, I think not!
Well we heard a lot and saw a lot of sarcasm and arrogance last night. Sure she appealed to the Republican die hards, who would endorse just about anyone up against a the possibility of the first Black American President. But I didn't hear anything that answers the difficult questions:
1. What will they do different than the Bush administration?
2. What will they do about Health Care issues?
3. What about education on all levels (elementary - collage)? And the rising cost of a college education?
4. What about economic issues for working, middle class Americans?
5. What about minority issues? or even minorities? Do they know we live her too?
6. What about social security? retirement? disability?
7. What about the real estate and foreclosure crises?
8. What about the unemployment rate?
9. What about New Orleans?
Speaking of New Orleans...I live there and had to evacuate myself. Still haven't returned home, I've spent this time in Atlanta with my family glued to CNN. Now as the wife of a professional athlete, my situation is unique, but in general the city is still suffering. (Before you ask if we help, absolutely! My husband and I are very active in the community. He's helped to rebuild homes with his bare hands. We give, raise money, attend and speak at an unprecedented amount of community events in New Orleans). One person can make a difference but cannot fix the problem. There's so much that needs to be done. Many are still suffering and trying to recover from Katrina. The Bush administration ignored the devastation brought on by Hurricane Katrina and now to save face for the upcoming election, he wants to run to New Orleans for media and photo ops as if he really cares about the effects from Hurricane Gustav?!! Yeah right, how about allocating some of the 10 billion we spend over seas on war to take care of your own first?!!

Finally, Today's the day!!!The Sex & the City Movie Premiere!!

Could Candace (the creator) had've known all that this show would do for women? Sex & the City is something that ALL woman can relate to...older women, young women, black women, white women, chinese women, latin women, rich women, struggling women....you get the point. It has stepped up the bag and shoe game across the country. We all love fashion...even if we can't afford it. We have all had a friend like one if not all of the girls....Well you know everyone has a Samantha in the group! lol!! But really in every episode something happened that either you could relate to or have been through or you have a girlfriend that's been through it or you dated a guy like that. When you can relate to something, it truly drives your emotions.
I literally cried and laughed from the beginning till the end of the movie! When I got to the theater, it was jammed packed....as I'm sure was every theater in the country. I broke the code and went with my man, but unfortunately my girlfriends are back home...so I had to do what I had to do. Now there weren't any two seats together available when we arrived at the theater, so we went to talk to the guest services to see if there was something they could do. Unfortunately, they said no and offered us passes to come back another time...like another day. I was devastated, tears welled up in my eyes as we exited the theater....My sweetheart looked at me and decided to do something about it. We went back in and he talked to another manager, who accommodated us and found us seats way in the front in a different theater. So as the opening scenes flashed I was already weeping as I thought about the fact that I almost missed this moment.
We only saw one other man in the whole place! There were thousands of women of all ages, all races. You saw packs of girlfriends dressed to the nines...more like they were going to a fashion show or a night club than the movies. There were 2 ladies sitting beside us. Throughout the movie, I couldn't help but bond with them. We talked about memorable Sex & the City moments and laughed and cried and passed each other tissue...while my baby laughed at us.:-) I tried to explain to him how much the movie meant to us girls around the world, but I really don't think he understands?? How many movies or TV series can make complete strangers laugh & cry together? I mean strangers of different races and socioeconomic backgrounds. Not too many huh? This is special. It's something that all women can share and yet still own it for yourself. No other TV series has impacted my life the way this one has. Gosh Sex & the City has to have been the biggest thing to happen to cable TV!

Flavor of Love 3 Reunion!!!

So we almost hit it on the head...cept the part about Thing 2 getting back with her ex. But who knows? Maybe she did......
Overall, I must say the show was a good way to end the FOL saga and clean up all the gossip. Just as I suspected, Flav used the reunion show as an opportunity to try to clear up the rumors. We already heard he had a baby on the way and was with the baby mama before this season even started. So while you've been on these fabulous dating adventures with the 65 ladies of Flavor of Love, you all of a sudden had an epiphany about your baby mama? Yeah right, it was for the money.....Again I ain't mad at him....and I applaud him for doing the right thing. Finally Flav is gonna marry someone he has a child with. They say it takes men longer to grow up...I guess some longer than others.
Deion & Pilar

D & P: Episode 7
What the Hell!!! You have 120 acres...Put them darn cows in a fenced in area and keep em there!! There's no way I would let cows run free on my beautiful lawn especially if I had a back yard like that. No way!
The kids in the bed thing is sooo hilarious....soooo real life. How cute? I love this show! I wish it wasn't almost over. All of my shows are ending...what am I gonna watch during the summer?

Flavor of Love 3 Reunion Inside Info!!!! Interview with Black!
http://www.mediatakeout.com/23815/mto_exclusive_at_the_reunion_show_thing_2_dumps_flav_for_45_year_old_man__and_flav_proposes_to_his_babys_mother.html
If this is true then we definitely know this crap is staged!!! How his baby mama just happen to be there....AND Thing 2 just happens to dump him?!! In true reality show fashion I think this was all set up to officially end the Flavor of Love saga and cover up the rumors that the show is fake and he was already engaged to his Baby Mama before the season began. Deelishis had already said in her blog that Flav had a girl and she was on set with his child during the taping of FOL 2. So just like I said before, I think that during the first season Flav was genuinely open to the possibility of a love connection...but he got hurt when Hoops played him after the show. From that point on, he's been in it for the money and the comeback appeal. But hey who can blame him? I ain't mad, cuz at the same time FOL has kept me amused and entertained, which is what TV is supposed to do. And not to mentioned he's helped quite a few ladies make a name for themselves and possibly launch new careers. For that I have to applaud Flavor Flav and I ain't mad at nobody!!!
Sorry I had to spoil the show....but hey who knows, MTO is the same site that reported Black as the winner waaaaay early in the show and that wasn't true. No diss to MTO, you just never know what's going to happen...we just gotta watch for ourselves.....So we'll see Monday. Gosh I can't wait!!
In the meantime, Black puts a rest to some of the rumors....even talks about dating Terrell Owens. Checkout this interview with Black from Flavor of Love 3 after the finale:

Dieon & Pilar
Let's start with the marriage advice: That was cute, but I only got 1 thing to say to the engaged couple: DON'T DO IT!!! lol!! Just kidding, marriage is a wonderful thing, but it's not easy and it probably won't be everything you expect. But when you really love each other, you'll learn how to work through the changes, differences & trials....Pretty much everything Dieon & Pilar told the couple is TRUE! Great advicePoor Dieondra!!! How Dieon gone invite both the guys she dating over at the same time??!!! and then he clowned them!! Dag they only in high school...Let the kids have fun! It's not like they getting married. Po babies...working hard and going to school....where else they gone work? All high school kids either work fast food or retail! I did. Really, she'll never find anyone to measure up to her fathers standards...unless she dates another celebrity kid? What you think?

Flavor of Love 3 Finale

Wow!!! Ok I must admit although I thought Thing 2 was the only one that genuinely cared for Flav, I did not think he was going to pick her. He usually goes for the same type. But I was wrong....I'm proud of you Flav! I was 100% sure he would choose Black. She's beautiful and she was laid back...she played it really cool...stayed out of drama till the very end...and she didn't have to work hard for his attention like all the other girls....he was really feeling her. There was a definite physical attraction for Flav. But I wasn't convinced that she was really into him. So I have to say, that he did the right thing, cuz Thing 2 is really in love with him.
What's gonna happen next?
Flav's love life? It's truly unpredictable. Looks like he's proposing on the reunion show next week....but who knows? There's been sooooo many rumors, before the season even started. It was reported that Flav was already engaged and had another baby on the way and that the show was just for money. Even Deelishis said in her myspace blog that Flav had a woman hanging around set when they filmed Season 2. but heck, all the gossip sites had already reported Black was this seasons winner....posting tons of pics of her labeled as the FOL Season 3 winner. Just goes to show you, we can't always trust the Internet gossip. I guess we just have to wait and see.
This show never ceases to surprise me!!!
Congratulations Thing 2!!!! You got yo man, Flav! At least we hope so ;-).
Check out this interview with Thing 2 after the show:

Flavor of Love:Season 3 recaps
Whew! Where do we start? Gosh I have to admit, I am addicted to the show. So much drama!! I'm on the edge of my seat every week waiting to see what happens next. Since we're starting this blog late in the game, I'm going to do a brief recap so we're all on the same page for the finale in two weeks.
EPISODE 13
So I’m not going to recap the entire season, but starting with last week, in Paris, Black really let me down when she stooped to Sincere’s level. You was doing fine on your own girl! Flav been feeling her since she came in the house. She hadn’t even had to work hard for his attention like the other girls. She’s definitely his type. Reminds me a lot of Hoops. But I guess when it got down to the wire after Flav walked out on her during their 30 min date she felt she had to do what she had to do?
I’m actually glad he brought Thing 2 back….That was so bogus the way he got rid of her and I think he really has some connection with her. We can definitely give her credit as the only one who’s really there for him.
EPISODE 12
Sincere gets on my last nerve!!! I can’t believe she lasted this long. But he always has to keep one around for the drama. It keeps us watching. That was oh so bogus how she did Thing 2. It’s not her fault she’s a twin. What kind of crap is that!! Who doesn’t date a girl because she close to her sister or because she has a close friend? Lots of us have a close friend or relative. That’s just ignorant. That doesn’t mean she’s not strong. Even Tia and Tamara eventually separated. Yes I realize the girls aren’t there to make friends, but once a bond is formed, you should have some sort of decency about yourself. And a real woman shouldn’t have to put someone else down to make herself shine. Focus on you and what you have to offer instead of focusing on getting rid of everyone else. I wouldn’t want to be with a man based on process of elimination anyway. I would want him to choose me because he’s feeling me!
Well at least we see where Sincere gets it from. Look at her dad; he’s just as annoying and an alcoholic too. We keep finding out, the apple don’t fall too far from the tree....Remember New Yorks mom.
I’d like to know the real deal with Black’s parents not showing up? In the past, people have had their grandparent or an aunt or sibling…somebody show up. You know Flav is feeling her, because he didn’t even make an issue out of that.
EPISODES 1-11
Umm these are the eliminations that stand out in my mind:
Myamme - That was all a set up. Who would even know to call her in the house and even that her name was Myamme on the show? Remember this is taped months before it aires. Yeah right. That was probably something Rayna and Chy hooked up...both from Chicago and Rayna wasn't on the show anymore. What you think?
Hotlanta - Poor baby, I really wanted to like her...but she talk too much!!! Gosh why would you even discuss Flavs money or lack there of with these girls? You already see that they go back and exaggerate everything! You shouldv'e known better. I can understand what she meant, but reality TV has given us a new Flav. Yeah he got alot of kids, but he ain't broke and he didn't like that at all. Oh well hun, go home, get your stuff together and take care of them babies.
Prototype- Now I've worked with Prototype and I must say she's a sweetheart. But I have to ask, did you WANT to go home? I didn't get it. She basically eliminated herself. Nothing against her beliefs, but we all know Flav drinks...and I'm sure she knew before coming on the show.
Chy Chy Chy - I cannot put my girl on blast. She is from the crib. Yeah I rep Chicago too! and I've worked with Chy a few years ago on an indie film. She's a sweet girl believe it or not...Very determined. I wasn't surprised to see her on the show. She hung in there as long as she could and she did what she had to do to stand out. I ain't mad.
Thing 1- All I have to say about that is her ex is a HATER!!! I pray I've never dated anyone that would come on national TV and put me on blast like that.
Flava Flaaaav!!!!

Deion & Pilar

Overall, I love the show! Either I'm laughing or my jaw is dropped. Yeah that Deion is a trip...but hey I'm not married to him. Pilar is beautiful inside and out. She's sweet and extremely patient...definitely has the personality to put up with him. That's why it works. They are not perfect as no family or marriage is...but they balance each other out.
I would love to hear your thoughts, here's what I think so far about the show.....
Episode 5
I don't have anything bad to say about Deion today!!! It was a cute show. I feel him on the midlife crises...I felt that way turning 30!! But hey he's got to suck it up, he's lived a fabulous life and still has more to go. Take it all in stride. OMG the little girl is soooo adorable. She cracks me up!
