Could Candace (the creator) had've known all that this show would do for women? Sex & the City is something that ALL woman can relate to...older women, young women, black women, white women, chinese women, latin women, rich women, struggling women....you get the point. It has stepped up the bag and shoe game across the country. We all love fashion...even if we can't afford it. We have all had a friend like one if not all of the girls....Well you know everyone has a Samantha in the group! lol!! But really in every episode something happened that either you could relate to or have been through or you have a girlfriend that's been through it or you dated a guy like that. When you can relate to something, it truly drives your emotions.
I literally cried and laughed from the beginning till the end of the movie! When I got to the theater, it was jammed packed....as I'm sure was every theater in the country. I broke the code and went with my man, but unfortunately my girlfriends are back home...so I had to do what I had to do. Now there weren't any two seats together available when we arrived at the theater, so we went to talk to the guest services to see if there was something they could do. Unfortunately, they said no and offered us passes to come back another time...like another day. I was devastated, tears welled up in my eyes as we exited the theater....My sweetheart looked at me and decided to do something about it. We went back in and he talked to another manager, who accommodated us and found us seats way in the front in a different theater. So as the opening scenes flashed I was already weeping as I thought about the fact that I almost missed this moment.
We only saw one other man in the whole place! There were thousands of women of all ages, all races. You saw packs of girlfriends dressed to the nines...more like they were going to a fashion show or a night club than the movies. There were 2 ladies sitting beside us. Throughout the movie, I couldn't help but bond with them. We talked about memorable Sex & the City moments and laughed and cried and passed each other tissue...while my baby laughed at us.:-) I tried to explain to him how much the movie meant to us girls around the world, but I really don't think he understands?? How many movies or TV series can make complete strangers laugh & cry together? I mean strangers of different races and socioeconomic backgrounds. Not too many huh? This is special. It's something that all women can share and yet still own it for yourself. No other TV series has impacted my life the way this one has. Gosh Sex & the City has to have been the biggest thing to happen to cable TV!
